Danish bicycle culture abroad
The bicycle culture of Copenhagen has gained plenty of international attention. 4 out of 10 Copenhageners bicycle to and from work or school and the remarkable thing is that everybody bicycles: children, elderly, students and business women and men side by side. Their primary reason for taking the bicycle: it is the easiest and fastest way to get around the city. In the City of Luxembourg, far from everybody considers the bicycle as a worthy alternative to the car. The City wants to change this mindset and therefore invited several speakers to give inspirational talks about the experiences from Copenhagen as a first kick off to a Luxembourg bicycle culture.Helle Søholt from Gehl Architects was one of the speakers and talked about how the challenge is to establish a functioning bicycle culture based on infrastructure and the mental aspects of biking.Read article from Luxembourg’s biggest newspaper Wort on the Danish delegation’s visit.
