Gehl Architects have conducted a Public Spaces and Public Life Study (PSPL) of Apeldoorn city centre in 2009, and now the first initiatives are being realized. •A new design for the city centre square Caterplein is being completed and implemented in 2012. •In December 2010 the city organised a one night lighting festival in the Hofstraat along the Grift to the canal to show the public what the effects of a more perceptive use of light can do to the atmosphere of public space. See it here •In 2010 they completed a tiny courtyard in the middle of the city centre which they have turned into a green oasis with a café. This year they are redeveloping four locations which lay waste waiting for redevelopment.
