Urban Strategy - Design

After producing an overall strategy for the deprived housing area Rosengården in Malmö, Sweden. Gehl Architects were ask by MKB to facilitate a neighborhood involvement process, leading to a new design for two courtyards in Herrgården inside Rosengården. It resulted in a design, which was then executed by a local engineering company. The goal was to create a local identity, to open up the groundfloors to make the life in the buildings part of the life in the courtyard and to create a design that reflected the needs and wishes of the neighborhood, it was warmly welcomed by the people in the area.
