Professor Architect Jan Gehl has been officially invited by The Peoples Committee of Hanoi, Vietnam, to give his professional advice and input on urban planning in Hanoi. He will be presenting his ideas and suggestion at a seminar in Hanoi on the 4th November 2009, and the Danish Minister of Culture, Carina Christensen, will attend. Being the capital of a hasty developing country, Hanoi is facing some serious urbanisation problems, as pollution, insufficient infrastructure and housing inadequacy, which creates a hostile environment for its inhabitants. Jan Gehl will introduce Vietnamese urban designers and public officials to new liveable cities concepts, in which Denmark is a leader.
