Co-founder and partner in Gehl Architects, Jan Gehl, has received the highest honour from the Danish Arts Foundation, the lifelong grant. Few, if any, have in modern times had such a fundamental influence on our understanding and on the development of the public realm as Jan Gehl, it reads in the motivation from the Danish Arts Foundation. The Foundation hails Jan as a standard bearer for the importance of architecturally well functioning public spaces and public realms for more than 30 years. "Jan Gehl is one of Denmarks most prominent urban planning architects and he is a beacon on an international scale.
