Design Guidelines & Programme

With the ongoing development of a number of exiting new projects in and around the City Centre of Reykjavik the project illustrates how the city centre can be strengthened as the heart of the City and the Nation. By strengthening the main street as a commercial axis, and introducing two new axes, a vastly improved and strengthened Landscape axis with a reopened river and introducing a new Cultural pedestrian axis connecting the waterfront to the city centre, attention is brought to Lækjartorg and Kvosin as the heart of the city.
